A Community United: The 16th Annual Bike Build Brings Joy and Opportunity to Students
This December, the 16th Annual Right Moves For Youth Bike Build brought together an incredible community of support, demonstrating what is possible when people join forces to make a difference. Held in partnership with the City of Charlotte General Services employees and The Spokes Group, this heartwarming event provided bikes to students in need, offering them not just transportation but a symbol of freedom and opportunity.
Building Bikes, Building Bonds
The Bike Build is a testament to the power of collaboration. Volunteers from the City of Charlotte’s General Services team worked tirelessly to assemble bikes for deserving students. The event exemplified the city’s commitment to investing in its youth and strengthening community connections. Each bike built is more than a set of wheels—it represents mobility, independence, and a brighter future for students who may otherwise not have access to such resources.
A Special Thanks to Jeff Viscount and Friends
This year’s Bike Build was elevated by the expertise and dedication of Jeff Viscount and his group of bike enthusiasts. Jeff, a longtime advocate for cycling in the Charlotte area, gathered friends to serve as safety inspectors for the newly assembled bikes. Their attention to detail ensured that every bike was not only ready to ride but also safe and reliable for the students who would receive them. Jeff’s team added a layer of care that reflects the spirit of this annual tradition.
The Impact of Community Support
As bikes were lined up, ready to be distributed, the room was filled with more than just tools and parts. It was filled with hope. Each volunteer brought their own unique contributions—whether assembling bikes, inspecting them for safety, or supporting logistics—to create an event that embodies the power of a unified community.
“It’s amazing to see so many people come together for our students,” shared one Right Moves For Youth staff member. “These bikes represent more than just transportation; they’re a step toward independence and new opportunities.”
Continuing the Tradition
The 16th Annual Bike Build serves as a reminder that when a community works together, it can achieve extraordinary things. This partnership between Right Moves For Youth, the City of Charlotte General Services employees, The Spokes Group, and passionate individuals like Jeff Viscount highlights the strength of collaboration and the power of collective action.
As we look ahead to the next Bike Build, we’re filled with gratitude for the volunteers, supporters, and organizations that make this event possible. Together, we’re not just building bikes; we’re building brighter futures for students across Charlotte.
