Make the Holidays Brighter for RMFY Students
Every year, we provide student support and youth development services to 1,600 middle and high school students attending Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. In this season of giving, we are asking our supporters to make the holidays brighter for Right Moves for Youth (RMFY) students through gifts of financial support, volunteer time, and communication with others.
There is no cost for students to be in RMFY so we depend on the generosity of our community to ensure services are provided. The average cost to provide comprehensive services for one student for one year is $500. With your donation, you can make an impact in the life of a student like Diana Lorenzo. RMFY helped Lorenzo navigate through the college application process and provided her with a scholarship. Today, she is a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and dreams of opening her own lash salon and bakery.
Research shows that youth thrive when they are encouraged to build positive long-lasting relationships with both peers and mentors. Volunteer and work directly with our students at the schools we serve, like Jan Ends does every week at Wilson STEM Academy. As a group mentor, Ends helps our RMFY Program Specialist facilitate our life skills curriculum, but you will usually find her volunteering at our fundraising events too.
Share your passion for RMFY with your friends, family, coworkers, and others you think would be interested in supporting us. Direct them to all of our social media pages to like, tweet, and share our posts. Encourage them to reach out to one of our staff to learn more about RMFY. Help us broaden our reach in the community by simply telling others who we are, why the work we do is important, and how they can be a part of making a difference in our students’ lives.
